![]() My employment authorization runs from December 2016–November 2017 and it is in this time that I will get Retronator started as a formal company. As a college graduate I get one extra year to do that. Today I returned to my home country Slovenia to visit family and friends while I wait to be able to work in the US. ![]() Oh, wait …) Just like my love for The Sims, I love my real life in the States. (University Life … Sounds like a Sims expansion. On top of my 2 years as a researcher at UC Berkeley I’ve now experienced the US university life firsthand at Stanford. I’ve lived in the US for 3.5 years now and it’s been a blast. I’m sure this will resurrect one way or another inside the game itself with time, but for now the focus will return to my art. Retronator blog was always intended to be focused around my art, but slowly grew to be a curated stream of happenings in the pixel art scene. ![]() I haven’t posted about Pixel Art Academy too much on the blog as I kept most communication separate to the Kickstarter backer updates and the Facebook group, but as I’m now completely focused on my own development, I’ll start posting about my design and art process here and sharing the more personal journey I’m on. Doing daily posts can take as short as 15 minutes, but more often at least half an hour and easily a full hour or more, especially after you include posting everywhere and monitoring the channels. This pushes myself into a bit of a crunch mode (by my own desire) where I want to just spend time working on the game. The first year after Kickstarter has seen much more focus on just studying for my Master’s degree so I’m not nearly as far with development as I’d like. However, the focus is absolutely on developing Pixel Art Academy. The reason for travel is to live a bit of a digital nomad lifestyle now that Retronator has become my full-time thing. I definitely enjoy doing it, but as I started travelling and changing time zones 2 times (USA->Europe->Asia), I missed a few days, and once you break the streak, it’s easy to let go. It’s been a long half a year of daily posts, which you can see for yourself in the archive. I’m not sure if you noticed, but I haven’t posted for a week now.
